We welcome you to support us through membership.

Membership in the Wayland Historical Society is open to all individuals and organizations. Because the Wayland Historical Society is a 501(c)(3) US tax-exempt nonprofit organization, your membership fee is tax deductible.

Your Membership Supports the Following:

  • NEWSLETTERS – Emailed newsletters to members provide notice of upcoming programs and events. They may feature brief articles on local topics with links to our website, for more in-depth discussion.
  • PROGRAMS – The free, monthly programs are open to all and include lectures by local historians of note, concerts, and occasionally tours of historic areas of interest.
  • EDUCATION – Collaboration with the Wayland Schools engages all third graders in a program focusing on life in our town during its active participation in the start of the American Revolution. We also collaborate with the History Department at the High School as students research a specific topic with a Wayland focus. In addition, there are special programs developed for children’s groups such the Girl Scouts.
  • MUSEUM TOURS – The Curator and Museum volunteers happily lead tours through the period rooms in the Museum. These might be general house tours or more focused on particular subject matter, e.g., furniture, quilts, pictures, costumes, toys, dolls, photographs, as well as tools, etc. as requested.
  • HOLIDAY OPEN HOUSE – A favorite tradition is the Wayland Museum’s Holiday Open House on a Sunday afternoon in early December. This occurs in collaboration with the Wayland Library, the Wayland Depot, and the First Parish. The Wayland Garden Club beautifully decorates the Museum spaces in a manner appropriate to each period room. Talented youth groups provide choral and instrumental music and entertainment. Freshly baked cookies and more — along with cold punch and/or hot drinks lend sustenance and holiday spirit to all attendees.
