WAYLAND GIRL SCOUTS AND DECORATED TREES

Since at least 1982, it has been a Wayland Girl Scout tradition to provide decorations for the Wayland Museum, run by the Wayland Historical Society, during the annual Wayland Center Community Open House. Russell’s Garden Center donates a tree every year and after the Open House, the tree is donated again, this time to a needy family in Wayland. The decorations are donated to the Wayland Food Pantry to be included with food donations.

Every year, each troop is invited to design and make decorations based on a common Girl Scout theme. This year’s theme, Famous American Women, honors the 100th anniversary of the 19th Amendment granting American women the right to vote. This is an opportunity for the girls to learn about women’s accomplishments and contributions to history. Below are trees from past years.
